Comparison
Hubdoc is gone. Here is where to go.
Hubdoc shut down on 8 May 2026. Xero owned it, and what replaced it stores documents without reading them. If you are here you have probably been putting the decision off.
The short answer
There is no like-for-like Hubdoc replacement, because Hubdoc was free with Xero and everything else is not. The honest shortlist is Dext if you want the closest match on receipt capture, and eggz if the thing you actually lost was documents arriving without anyone touching them. Xero Files is still included in your subscription and still does storage, but it will not extract anything.
What Hubdoc is good at
- It was included with Xero, which is a price nothing else will match.
- Fetching from bank and utility accounts, which few tools still do.
- Bookkeepers had years of muscle memory in it.
Where eggz is a different answer
- The inbox is the source. Bills and receipts are read where they already arrive, not uploaded again.
- GST and line items are read off the document, not guessed at.
- Quotes and invoices as well as bills, so the whole cycle sits in one place.
- $90 a year to start, which is the closest anyone gets to what you were paying.

Stay with Hubdoc if
- You mostly need document storage and nothing else. Xero Files is already in your subscription and free.
- You need bank and utility fetching. We do not do that.
- You have very high volumes of paper receipts. Dext handles that better.
