# Getting started

> Install eggz Tab Manager, make your first workspace, and move your first tab into it, in about five minutes start to finish

Your Birdsong Pottery tabs and your Marchmont Cafe tabs are currently the same pile. That is the problem this page fixes.

Three steps, about five minutes. By the end you will have a named set of tabs you can leave and come back to, and you will know how to file a stray tab into it.

## Step 1: Install and open it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add it to Chrome">
    Open the [**eggz Tab Manager & Bill Capture** listing on the Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/unscrambled-tabs/gfjdjhpcemmakhoaggnihfcohkmfcfcc), click **Add to Chrome**, and confirm.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pin the button">
    Click the puzzle-piece icon in the Chrome toolbar, find **eggz Tab Manager**, and click the pin next to it. The button now sits in your toolbar all the time, and everything else starts from there.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click the button">
    A card opens on top of the page you are reading. Nothing on the page moves or resizes, because the card floats over it.

    Would you rather have a panel that docks to the side of the window? That is a setting, and you can change it at any time. See [Two ways to open it](/help/unscrambled-tabs/dashboard-and-side-panel).
  </Step>
</Steps>

The first time you open it, a short welcome walks you through four screens:

1. **Welcome to eggz Tab Manager** tells you what it is for. Click **Get started**.
2. **Connect your eggz account** offers **Sign in to eggz** or **Skip for now**. Signing in is optional. Workspaces, tab tools, memory saving, snapshots and backup all work without an account. Signing in adds the AI assistant, document upload and [bill capture](/help/unscrambled-tabs/capture-bills).
3. **One workspace to start** is the same form as step 2 below, offering to turn the tabs you already have open into your first workspace. Choose **Skip for now** if you would rather do it yourself.
4. **You're all set** finishes up. Click **Open AI assistant** and you are into the app.

## Step 2: Make your first workspace

A workspace is a saved set of tabs with a name, an icon and a colour. Make one per client, per project, or per hat you wear.

The welcome offers to build your first one out of the tabs you already have open. If you skipped that, or you want another:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click New">
    In the card (or side panel), find the **Workspaces** heading and click **New** beside it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name it and pick a look">
    Type a name, such as "Birdsong Pottery" or "Quarterly numbers", then choose an icon and a colour from the rows underneath. A name is required. The rest have sensible defaults.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Create Workspace">
    The tabs you already have open are added to it automatically, so your current session is saved the moment the workspace exists.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You now have something to switch to. Click a different workspace's name and this window becomes that workspace's tabs. Click back and the first one returns: same tabs, same order, same tab selected.

## Step 3: Move your first tab

Say you have a supplier's price list open, and it belongs with a different client.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find the tab in the list">
    At the top of the card is an **Open Tabs** section listing every tab you have open. Your tab is in there.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Drag it onto a workspace">
    Press and hold on the tab's row, then drag it down onto the workspace you want. A small card follows your cursor saying what will happen, for example **"Moving 1 tab to Marchmont Cafe — hold ⌥ Option to copy"**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let go">
    The tab is saved into that workspace and closed here. A message appears at the corner of the screen, **"Moved 1 tab to Marchmont Cafe."**, with an **Undo** button beside it for ten seconds.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Want to keep the tab open where it is and file a copy? Hold **⌥ Option** (**Alt** on Windows and Linux) while you let go. The card following your cursor changes to **"Copying…"**, so you can see the change before you commit to it.
</Tip>

That is the whole loop. Name a set of tabs, switch between sets, and drag stray tabs where they belong.
