# Customers and Contacts

> View, search, and manage customer accounts and contacts synced from Xero in eggz, including transaction history and contact details.

## Customers (Accounts)

The **Customers** page shows your customer accounts. When Xero is connected, customer data syncs automatically from your Xero contacts.

<Note>The same account record can be a **supplier** too — a bill or receipt's **Supplier** card links to this same kind of profile page, just for a business you bought from rather than sold to.</Note>

### Customer list

The customer table displays:

* **Name**: Company or individual name
* **Email** and **Phone**: Contact details for the account
* **Status**: Active, At Risk, Pending, or Closed
* **Owner**: Team member responsible for the account
* **Region** and **Segment**
* **Annual value** and **Currency**
* **Industry**

You can group customers by region, segment, owner, status, or industry.

When you type in the search box above the table, the matching words in the **Name** and **Email** columns are highlighted so you can see at a glance why each row appears. The same highlight shows up when you search your contacts, invoices, quotes, and bills.

### Customer detail

Click any customer to view their full profile:

* **Open balance** in the page header — see [Open balance](#open-balance) below
* Account details: status, annual value, industry, owner, renewal date
* Contact information: email, phone, website, tax number
* Region and segment classification
* Activity feed showing recent interactions
* AI chat assistant for account context
* A separate, read-only **Activity** timeline of account-level events — not the activity feed above, see [Activity](/help/guides/invoices-and-quotes#activity)
* **Related documents**: every invoice, quote, bill, and receipt linked to the account — see [Related documents](#related-documents) below

### Open balance

The page header shows the account's **open balance** — what's still outstanding, not the gross total ever invoiced or billed. If any of it is overdue, the figure turns red and its label names the overdue amount (for example **\$340.00 overdue**) instead of the usual **Open balance**. Nothing owed at all? No balance shows in the header.

### Related documents

Below the profile, a **Related Documents** section totals the account's **Revenue**, **Expenses**, **Pipeline**, and **Open balance**, then lists every **Invoice**, **Quote**, **Bill**, and **Receipt** linked to it in its own group. Within each group, anything still unpaid comes first — most overdue at the very top — so what needs attention isn't buried under settled history.

### Managing customers

Customers support full create, update, and delete operations:

* **Create**: Add new customers manually (independent of Xero sync)
* **Edit**: Update fields like region, segment, owner, annual value, industry, and notes
* **Delete**: Remove individual customers or use bulk delete
* **Xero sync**: When syncing from Xero, customer records are updated with the latest contact data. Fields you have enriched in eggz (region, segment, owner, annual value, industry, notes) are preserved and not overwritten by Xero sync.

<Tip>Use the customer detail page to enrich synced accounts with business-specific information like region, segment, and annual value. This data persists across Xero syncs.</Tip>

### Access control

* **Admins** can see all customers across the workspace
* **Members** can only see customers assigned to them

## Contacts

The **Contacts** page shows contact records. These are designed to be synced from external systems.

### Contact list

The contact table displays:

* **Name**: First name and last name
* **Email**: Contact email address
* **Status**: Contact status
* **Type**: Customer, Supplier, or both
* **Source**: Where the contact was synced from

You can group contacts by status, type, or source.

### Contact detail

Click a contact to view their profile, activity feed, and access the AI chat assistant for context on that contact.

<Note>Contacts are read-only in eggz. They are populated by syncing from connected systems. To edit contact information, make changes in Xero and then sync.</Note>
